It is said that his name was Jundub bin Junadah bin Qois bin Amr bin Milil bin Shu'ir bin Harom bin 'Affan. Some say his name was Burair bin Junadah, others say he was called bin Jundub, bin 'Ushroqoh, or bin Jundub bin Abdillah and bin Sakn. He was the maternal brother of Amr bin Abasah As-Sulami.
An-Nazzal bin Sabrah narrated from Ali in a marfu' hadith: "There is no one more truthful under the blue sky and on this brown earth than Abu Dzar." This narration is also reported by Abu Darda' and Abu Hurairah. Abu Ishaq narrated from Hani' bin Hani' from Ali that Abu Dzar was a vessel full of knowledge, none of which was ever forgotten. Al-Ajuri narrated from Abu Dawud that he did not witness this event, but Umar acknowledged it, and Abu Dzar's knowledge was considered comparable to that of Ibn Mas'ud. Khalifah and Amr bin Ali, among others, stated that Abu Dzar passed away in Rabdzah in the year 32 AH. Al-Mada'ini added that Ibn Mas'ud led his funeral prayer and then passed away shortly thereafter. Abu Dzar's virtues and merits are numerous. I mentioned in the book "Al-Adab" from Ibn Majah through the chain of Na'im al-Jamar from Tuhfah al-Ghifari from Abu Dzar, who said: "The Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم passed by me while I was lying on my stomach, so he kicked me with his foot and said, 'O Junaidib, this lying position is the way of the inhabitants of Hell.'" If this chain of narration is authentic, it is evidence that his name was Jundub.

**And he was narrated by (his students):** Anas bin Malik, Ibn Abbas, Khalid bin Wahban, bin Kholah Abu Dzar, some say Wahban bin Isteri Abu Dzar, and others say bin Sister of Abu Dzar, Zaid bin Wahb al-Juhani, Khorshah bin Al-Har, Jubair bin Nufair, al-Ahnaf bin Qais, Abdullah bin As-Shomit, Zaid bin Dzabyan, Abdullah bin Syaqiq, Amr bin Maimun, Abdurrahman bin Ghanim, Qais bin Ubad, Martsad bin Malik bin Zubaid, Abu Idris al-Khaulani, Abu Asma' ar-Ruhbi, Abu Uthman an-Nahdi, Abu al-Aswad ad-Daili, al-Ma'rur bin Suwaid, Yazid bin Syarik at-Taimi, Abu Bashrah al-Ghifari, Abu Salim al-Jaisyani, Abu Marwah al-Ghifari, Zurr bin Hubaisy, Rubai' bin Hirash, Abdurrahman bin Syamasah al-Mahri, Amr bin Bijdan, Abdurrahman bin Abi Laila, Abdurrahman bin Hijirah al-Khaulani, Atha' bin Yasar, Syahr bin Hausyab, and many more.
