🕋 13 Evidences for the Virtues of Makkah and Madinah 🕋

✅ 1. The Ka‘bah is the first place of worship on earth

“Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind was that at Bakkah (Makkah) — blessed and a guidance for the worlds.”
(Qur’an, Āl ‘Imrān: 96)

✅ 2. Whoever enters Makkah is safe

“Whoever enters it (Makkah) shall be safe.”
(Qur’an, Āl ‘Imrān: 97)

✅ 3. Makkah is the best and most beloved land to Allah and His Messenger

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said when leaving Makkah:

“How pure you are as a land, and how beloved you are to me. Had my people not expelled me from you, I would not have lived anywhere else.”
(Hadith: At-Tirmidhi 3926, authenticated by Shaykh Al-Albani)

✅ 4. It is forbidden to shed blood or cut plants in Makkah

From Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with them both), the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Indeed, Allah has made Makkah sacred. It was not made lawful for anyone before me, nor will it be lawful for anyone after me. It was only made lawful for me for an hour of the day. Its grass must not be cut, its trees must not be uprooted, its game must not be disturbed, and its lost items must not be picked up except by one who will announce them.”
Al-‘Abbās said: “O Messenger of Allah, except al-Idhkhir (a type of grass), for it is used for our goldsmithing and our graves.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “Except al-Idhkhir.”

And from Khālid, from ‘Ikrimah, he said: “Do you know what it means that its game must not be driven away? It means someone should not chase it from its shade so that he may take its place.”
(Hadith: Al-Bukhari 1833)

✅ 5. Prayer in Al-Masjid Al-Haram equals 100,000 prayers

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“And prayer in Al-Masjid Al-Haram is equivalent to one hundred thousand prayers.”
(Authenticated in Sahih al-Jami‘ As-Saghir by Al-Albani: 3841)

✅ 6. The supplication of Prophet Ibrāhīm for Makkah

“My Lord, make this land (Makkah) a place of security.”
(Qur’an, Al-Baqarah: 126)

✅ 7. The Dajjāl cannot enter Makkah

From Abu Sa‘īd Al-Khudri, who said:
“I accompanied Ibn Ṣayyād to Makkah. He said to me: ‘I have suffered from the people; they claim that I am the Dajjāl. Have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “He (the Dajjāl) will not have children”?’ I said: ‘Yes, I have heard that.’ He said: ‘But I have children. And have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “He (the Dajjāl) will not enter Madinah or Makkah”?’ I said: ‘Yes, I have heard that.’ He said: ‘I was born in Madinah, and here I am going to Makkah.’ Then at the end of his words he said to me: ‘Indeed, by Allah, I know his birth, his place, and where he is.’”
Abu Sa‘īd said: “That confused me.”
(Hadith: Muslim 2927)

13 Evidences for the Virtues of Makkah and Madinah

✅ 8. Madinah is also a sacred sanctuary (Haram)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Indeed, Ibrāhīm made Makkah a sanctuary, and I make the area between its two black volcanic hills (of Madinah) a sanctuary.”
(Hadith: Al-Bukhari 3367, Muslim 1361)

✅ 9. The reward of prayer in Al-Masjid An-Nabawi

“A prayer in this mosque of mine is better than one thousand prayers offered elsewhere, except Al-Masjid Al-Haram.”
(Hadith: Al-Bukhari 1190 & Muslim 1394)

✅ 10. Faith will return to Madinah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Indeed, faith will retreat to Madinah just as a snake returns to its hole.”
(Hadith: Al-Bukhari 1876 & Muslim 147)

✅ 11. Madinah expels the hypocrites

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

From Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“There will come a time upon the people when a man will call his cousin and his close relative, saying: ‘Come to prosperity, come to prosperity.’ Yet Madinah is better for them if they only knew. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, no one leaves it out of dislike for it except that Allah will replace him with someone better than him in it. Verily, Madinah is like a furnace (of a blacksmith); it expels impurities. The Hour will not be established until Madinah removes its wicked ones just as the furnace removes the impurities of iron.”
(Hadith: Muslim 1381)

✅ 12. Madinah is the dwelling place of the best generation (the Prophet and his Companions)

“And those who settled in the city (Madinah) and had adopted the faith before them…”
(Qur’an, Al-Hashr: 9)

✅ 13. Intercession for those who patiently endure living in Madinah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“No one is patient with its hardship and difficulties except that I will be an intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection.”
(Hadith: Muslim 1377)
