**The Ruling on Buying and Selling Chicken Manure**

Someone has a question. In a certain area, there is a practice of buying and selling chicken manure (from chickens fed with pellet feed). This chicken manure is used as fertilizer for chili plants. When using this manure, the chili plants yield well, and it is cheaper than the fertilizer sold in stores. If using other fertilizers like cattle manure, the results are not as good or satisfactory.
The question is: Is it permissible to buy this chicken manure for fertilizing chili plants, given its beneficial use?

**Answer, seeking help from Allah Ta'ala:**
وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته.
Yes, it is permissible. It is not impure. It contains many nutrients needed by plants, especially if it has been processed correctly. And in its essence, it is not impure.
Even if it were impure, fertilizing or watering plants with impure substances is not prohibited. However, before harvesting, the plants should be nourished with permissible substances for a number of days until it is estimated that the impurity within the plants has dissipated, as discussed in the case of jallalah animals.
This is the explanation of our Shaykh Yahya Al Hajuri حفظه الله. The produce can be sold if it is free from impurities.
Chicken manure can also be bought and sold. There is consensus that beneficial items are permissible for sale.

**De Regel voor het Kopen en Verkopen van Kippenmest**
**Vraag:**
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Iemand heeft een vraag. In een bepaald gebied is er een praktijk van het kopen en verkopen van kippenmest (van kippen die gevoerd worden met pellets). Deze kippenmest wordt gebruikt als mest voor peperplanten. Bij gebruik van deze mest geven de peperplanten goede opbrengsten, en het is goedkoper dan de mest die in winkels wordt verkocht. Als je andere meststoffen gebruikt, zoals koeienmest, zijn de resultaten niet zo goed of bevredigend.
De vraag is: Is het toegestaan om deze kippenmest te kopen voor het bemesten van peperplanten, gezien het nuttige gebruik ervan?

Ja, het is toegestaan. Het is niet onrein. Het bevat veel voedingsstoffen die planten nodig hebben, vooral als het correct is verwerkt. En in essentie is het niet onrein.
Zelfs als het onrein zou zijn, is het bemesten of water geven van planten met onreine stoffen niet verboden. Echter, voor de oogst moeten de planten een aantal dagen gevoed worden met toegestane stoffen totdat wordt geschat dat de onreinheid in de planten is verdwenen, zoals besproken in het geval van jallalah-dieren.
Dit is de uitleg van onze Shaykh Yahya Al Hajuri حفظه الله. Het gewas kan worden verkocht als het vrij is van onreinheden.
Kippenmest kan ook worden gekocht en verkocht. Er is consensus dat nuttige items toegestaan zijn voor verkoop.
